Project of the Day: Rovings and Washcloths!

This last week has been a very busy and exciting week - Autumn is here! The leaves are starting to turn, and temperatures are beginning to drop. Perfect weather to be outside!

Needless to say, we have been spending a lot of time out in this beautiful weather! I also was blessed to be able to visit my brother and niece this week. Sitting and watching our children play together was a very profound moment for both of us. We have truly grown up!

Even with all the fun, I have still managed to dye some rovings for dryer balls and also make some wash cloths while enjoying the great outdoors! Please enjoy the pictures and have a wonderful week!

I also made a doll of my own design for my little niece. She liked it!

Projects of the Day: Dryer Balls, Pumpkins, and Scarf, Oh My!

Here are a few things that I have been working on this week!

First we have some lovely wool dryers balls. I have been experimenting with the best way to make these. These are made of wool yarn, but I am working on some made of wool roving as well. I think the roving will ultimately be easier! Aren't they pretty?

I've also been working on a couple of projects that I shared earlier, a scarf for my father and some cute pumpkin appliques. They could also be used as pins or fridgie magnets! I'm going to put faces on some of them too. Spooky!

The last couple of months I have kept an eye out for beautiful wool sweaters heading for the trash bin. You would be surprised what people throw away! Thankfully, I was able to rescue some and reclaim the yarn! I will be offering these lovely reclaimed yarns for sale on my website soon. I am close to launch!

Projects of the Day: Pumpkins and Blue Roving!

I thought I'd start posting the projects that I am working on a couple of times per week, so everyone can see what I have been doing and so I can keep track as well! Sometimes I bounce from craft to craft, and other times I am more focused. Today I have spent working on some really cute little pumpkins for appliques, pins, and fridgie magnets. I still have to apply the faces and weave in ends. I also dyed a little roving for some dryer balls and other felting projects. Enjoy!

Please excuse my super-ugly, but ridiculously comfortable couch!

What a difference a year makes!

This morning I received a wonderful email about a blog post that I had made regarding yarns without a label and how to determine the basic information about the yarn. It made me smile. In fact, it made my day. I have been so busy lately on the creative side of things that I have been lax in cataloging my work and experiences and sharing information with others!

So, after a year hiatus, here I am! Though it is not New Years yet, I am going to make an early resolution to be more faithful in updating my blog with my own creative energies as well as information for those who are just beginning their journey into the wonderful world of fiber arts!

This is a very warm double knit scarf that I have been working on for my father for winter. Gorgeous heathered gray superwash merino double stranded is going to make this super warm and luxurious. I can't wait to share it with him!
